Lesbian music in the 90's was mainly associated with the Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge and K.D. Lang. Nothing against them. I personally think that K.D. Lang's song "I confess" from her album, Sing It Loud, is phenomenal. If you haven't seen the video yet, do yourself a favor and check it out here (I've melted the first time I heard K.D. Lang saying "I'm your Daddy"). Then came the new millennium, and with it the L Word. I think we can all agree that the L Word was a game changer as to how lesbians were portrayed in the media. We suddenly became hip and mainstream at the same time. Society at-large also learned that lesbians are not all the same, and there's much more to lesbian music than Lilith Fair. With that in mind, we at The Lesbian Agenda have compiled a playlist inspired by the musical reawakening of the 2000s.
