Dyke March

I wrote a thing! "So, this is what I want you to do. I want you to harness your inner Donna Redwing (and/or Donna Summer, your choice.) and come down to the Portland Dyke March June 16th 2018, 6:00pm Kickoff at sw Naito and Pine. Let’s make noise! Dykes! Come with signs! Go to Homo Depot, head to home décor and grab some paint sticks from the cute femme with the side-hair, then hit the liquor store. You know, “For cardboard”, for “your sign.” Make it a thing! Come with chants! Let’s be loud. Get drunk and ask side-hair to come! She likes you!"

Back Fence PDX: Russian Roulette

How it works: each show begins with a full wheel of juicy story prompts. One of the 8 storytellers will be randomly drawn. They spin the wheel to decide the prompt for their story. They can play or pass. If they pass another teller can steal their prompt. Then the risky part…each storyteller has only 5 minutes to come up with a true 5-minute story based on that prompt! It’s like we invented a new game called truth AND dare.

At the end of the night, the audience will select a winner who will receive 50 bucks and some other cool prizes, like bragging rights for life. The winner will be invited to come back to the next show! And one lucky audience member will also win some prizes!

Dyke Hike: Siouxon Creek/ Chinook Falls

This hike is one for everyone! We are planning to hike to Chinook Falls which is 7.7 miles round trip. However, there's a stop/turn around point at 4 miles for those who want an easier stroll. Also, at 4 miles there's a crossing where we will walk through Knee-deep water (depending on the rainfall). So pack so tall boots/gear for staying dry! Or even just two trash bags that you could cinch up if in a pinch. :) And for those who are feeling a bit more adventurous, there's an add-on trail that leads to the beautiful Wildcat Falls, but! there's waist deep water there for the short cut back to the main trial. Or, you can backtrack without crossing the water making this a 9.8 mile round trip. It's a "choose your own adventure" kind of hike!

As usual, pack snacks, a lunch and some water. Feel free to bring the pups, but make sure they are not scared of the water or you are able to carry them across (not far). Come Caravan with us!!! Meet up at NE 32nd and Going St. to catch a ride or provide a ride. We will start meeting up around 10:15 AM for a 10:30 take off. Or meet us at the Trailhead in Washington at Noon.

Dyke Hike's 1st bday! Eagle Creek to Tunnel Falls

This was the very first hike Dyke Hike scheduled but! we only went to High Bridge as our ending point. Since this is our big anniversary hike we are doubling the length and trekking all the way to Tunnel Falls. A solid 12 mile round trip with enough beauty to last you all month! Gettin it! We estimate the hike will take about 4 1/2 hrs- it's a harder hike than what we've been doing so be prepared to sweat.

We will do a nice chunk of lunch break, pack some food, water, dogs, friends, and wear your best boots. The trail is rocky in some spots and there's a vertigo mile that you will want that gripping action of your boot. The red flag on this trip is falling. I, myself, have a fear of falling and this trail was manageable for me. Lots of exhilaration though!

Meet at Eagle Creek Trailhead at 10:30, or caravan with us! Caravan meets at NE 32nd and Going St. Be there by 9:30

80's Video Dance Attack

Though MTV has sent its stable of video jockeys out to pasture, VJ Kittyrox carries the pastel, shoulder-padded torch of Adam Curry and Nina Blackwood as she masterminds the 80s Video Dance Attack. For the last eight years, this popular shindig has united generations of Portlandians with its five-hour feast of '80s-centric sensation.

Across 10-foot screens, VJ Kittyrox projects classic videos from artists such as Duran Duran and Michael Jackson as audiences of Breakfast Clubbers and Pretty in Pinkers perfect their cabbage patch, running man, and Pat Benatar shimmies. A bombastic, thumping sound system and a dazzling light show accentuate the time warp as audiences deck themselves in '80s garb and shake away memories of unsolved rubik's cubes.
