10 Lesbian Movie Scenes We Wish Were Consummated

We all know there are plenty of lists out there ranking the hottest lesbian sex scenes in movies. But what about those torrid lesbian scenes that are oh... so promising, but don't end up in sex on screen? Being a cinephile who is always searching for sapphic content, I've watched several lesbian and non-lesbian movies with incredibly sensuous lesbian scenes. Here is my list of 10 titillating movies from the tamest scenes to the hottest.

DISCLAIMER: If you haven't watched these movies you may not want to continue reading this list, as it contains SPOILERS.

1. Fried Green Tomatoes

Ok, Ok, this movie has no "lesbian" scene per se but it carries a lesbian theme throughout. In fact, it is quite clear towards the end of the movie that Idgie (Marie Stuart Masterson) and Ruth (Mary-Loise Parker) are in a committed, loving relationship. Incidentally, the movie is an adaptation of the book, "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café," written by the openly lesbian author, Fannie Flagg. I was a teenager when I saw this movie and had a huge crush in Mary Stuart Masterson. I watched Fried Green Tomatoes hoping for at least an on-screen kiss between Idgie and Ruth.....but the kiss never came :(

2. And then came lola

I listed this movie not for lack of a lesbian sex scene but for the ménage à trois that never happened. Seriously, did anyone else feel as duped as me when watching this movie? The poster for the movie shows 1 hot femme sandwiched between 2 others! This is not that great of a movie to begin with -especially for their unabashed plagiarism of "Run Lola Run" - but I kept watching it all the way to the end hoping that a threesome could save my movie experience.....but the threesome never came (pun intended).

3. Frida

Who among us doesn't remember the incredibly sensual dance scene between Frida (Salma Hayek) and Tina (Ashley Judd)? When Tina announces that the winner of a "drinking contest" gets to dance with her, Frida steps up, outdrinks the men and leads her to the dance floor where they proceed to dance a tango. At the end of the tango, Frida gives Tina a passionate kiss, they smile at each other, the crowd claps in approval, and they part away. What??? Oh my god, I wanted to see so much more.

4. Henry & june

The movie is based on the diaries of Anaïs Nin, a French writer who had an affair with American writer Henry Miller. During the affair, Anaïs became infatuated with Henry's wife, June Miller. The scene in question is between Anaïs (Maria de Medeiros) and June (Uma Thurman). I was 16 years old when I watched Henry & June for the first time. I already knew that I was interested in girls but had never acted on it. After watching Anaïs and June naked in bed  kissing each other, I knew there was no way back for me: definitely lesbian. Also, I became obsessed with Uma Thurman for quite some time.

5. Jennifer's Body

Holy goddess Megan Fox! That girl is so freaking hot, it's wrong. I've stumbled upon this movie browsing through my TV channels. Once I learned Diablo Cody wrote the screenplay, I decided to watch it. What a delightful surprise! A black comedy, with very witty and sarcastic dialogue, and OMG filled with lesbian innuendos between Jennifer (Megan Fox) and her high school BFF, Needy (Amanda Seyfried). Jennifer is every lesbian's worst nightmare: the straight girl who unmercifully taunts you then retreats. In any case, this scene is super hot and will definitely leave you wanting more.

6. Compulsion

I had no idea how dark this movie was when I saw it. If I had known, perhaps I would've watched it sooner. Newly wed Amy (Heather Graham) unknowingly moved across the hall from her childhood idol Saffron (Carrie-Anne Moss). Once an awarded chef with a busy schedule, Amy was now a housewife who loved preparing ultra elaborate dinners for her husband. When the husband grew tired of Amy's epicurean compulsion, Amy focused her culinary talents into curing Saffron's anorexia. Long story short, Saffron and Amy end-up making out in bed. Enraptured by Saffron's kisses, Amy promises she will do anything for her. Moaning, Saffron begs Amy to eat her. Unfortunately, turns out when Saffron asked beautiful Amy to eat her, she meant it literally.

7. Femme Fatale

Who cares why Laure (Rebecca Romijn) undressed Veronica (Rie Rasmussen) in a public bathroom stall during the Cannes Film Festival? Certainly not I. Here, Laure deliciously takes away each piece of clothing and jewelry from the already half naked model Veronica. Laure's hands and lips are all over Veronica and just when you think something more is going to happen, Brian de Palma cuts the scene. Shame on you, Mr. De Palma, denying us the pleasure of watching 2 gorgeous women sharing much more intimate moments together.

8. Mercy

Detective Palmer (Ellen Barkin) begins investigating a series of murders, which lead her to the underground world of lesbian BDSM and to Vickie (Peta Wilson). Throughout the movie, there is palpable sexual tension between Det. Palmer and Vickie, but neither takes the plunge. Finally, Vickie had enough and openly seduces Det. Palmer, pinning her against the kitchen counter. We can see Det. Palmer submitting to Vickie's sexual advances but just as Vickie is lowering Det. Palmer's panties with her teeth, Det. Palmer puts an end to it. Seriously!?

9. Black Swan

Although we get to watch a lesbian sex scene between Nina (Natalie Portman) and Lily (Mila Kunis), I was disheartened when I found it was nothing but a dream. It shouldn't matter since it is all make belief anyway; however, there are so few portrayals of lesbianism in Hollywood that we tend to hold on to all the morsels thrown at us. I guess here it was not enough that we got to see the actors sharing intimacy with each other. I wanted the characters to have shared that intimacy as well.

10. After Sex

This scene is proof that sexy doesn't have to be explicit. Nikki (Mila Kunis) is a straight-identifying pillow princess that every once in a while enjoys having a girl go down on her. In a previous scene, Nikki had "allowed" Kat (Zoe Saldana) such privilege. Then, in their college library, Nikki asked the million dollar question, "What does pussy taste like? (...) what does my pussy taste like?" Well, well, she asked...
